Salt Lake Street News is a nonprofit newspaper geared towards people experiencing homelessness and poverty right now by
validating their reality. Through information, advocacy, and self-expression we will overcome ignorance and create opportunity
for real change, not spare change
Improving:
the community by Deterring Panhandling with honest opportunities for the poor.
Empowering:
the homeless and poor, giving them the ability to get off the streets.
What is The Salt Lake Street News?
1) The Salt Lake Street News is part of an International Movement of street newspaper.
2) Salt Lake Street News is a Grassroots Movement to help homeless People to get a job, get motivated,and get a better life.
3) Homelessness isn’t helplessness.
4) We are also a member of ( NASNA North American Street News Association)
What are the articles about?
The articles discuss local and national issues that affect homelessness and poverty.
One of the goals of the Salt Lake Street News is to help educate the public about these issues.
Who is the Salt Lake Street News program for?
The program provides a way for homeless and low- income individuals to earn a small income by vending the paper.
Where does the money go? How does it help the homeless?
1) Vendors purchase the paper from the Salt Lake STREET NEWS for 50cents per copy.
2) They sell the papers on the street for $1.00, keeping 50 cent profit.
3) Many vendors are homeless, and by purchasing a paper you are helping them directly.
The Salt Lake Street NEWS does not profit from the sales of the paper.
The 50 cents goes towards offsetting the cost of printing the paper, and administrative costs.
